Making Of Pawanhans Dauphin

The Eurocopter AS365 Dauphin is a medium-weight multipurpose twin-engine helicopter It was originally developed and manufactured by French firm Aérospatiale, which was merged into the multinational Eurocopter company during the 1990s. Since entering production in 1975, the type has been in continuous production for more than 40 years.

Since it is manufactured in France it is dismantle and shipped to its operator instead of flying it to its base.Which is economically cheap.

There the challenge starts...

We start our work by unloading the helicopter from the truck which is in 4-5 parts. Fuselage,Main Rotor,Tail Section,Stabilizer and various parts.

The helicopter is assembled again by following steps -

  • Parts Identification & Arrangements
  • Rotor Head Installation (It is the most complicated part of assembly)
  • Tail Section Assembly
  • Rotor Blade Installation
  • Cowlings,Panels & Fuselage
  • Removing All Blankings & Covering
  • Filling Oils & Fluids
  • Fuel For Engine Test
  • Test Flight
Seems to be very few steps but it takes around 15 days for a team of 6.

We Treat Our Choppers Like A Own New Born Baby Because Any Little Mistake In Upbringings Could Be Fatal !

The most stressful time during the assembly process is the time just before the test flight. We all have to keep trust on our capabilities & just because Of PHS (PawanHans) we assembly engineers accompany the pilots during the test flight.

And When We Finally Land  With 100%  OK test results.
